"Voluntarily Stopping Eating & Drinking (VSED): An End-of-Life Option"
Judith Schwarz, RN, PhD, the Clinical Director of End of Life Choices NY, will present information about this choice, which is a legal end-of-life option in New York State. Details about VSED, implications for both the patient and family, and responsibilities for caregivers will be features of this program. Information will also be presented about how provisions for VSED can be included in Advance Care Directives in the event of loss of decision-making capacity due to Alzheimer’s or dementia. This event is presented by Death with Dignity-Albany.

9th Annual WERC's First Impressions Second Chances Networking Event
This is an exceptional evening of shopping, food, drinks, and networking to benefit the women of the Capital District Women’s Employment & Resource Center (WERC). The ticket price includes a fabulous networking opportunity, fantastic buffet and vendors selling handbags, jewelry, clothing, and accessories. Incredible prizes will be raffled off to raise additional funds. Donations are encouraged and appreciated. These could include clothing, accessories, and gift cards which will be utilized by the women in WERC’s Training Program. Clothing and accessories will be donated to Great Finds to distribute to the women of WERC. Great Finds is a thrift store owned and operated by Equinox, a local, non-profit agency, offering vouchers for free clothing to non-profit organizations that provide support to women in need.

Albany Tea Festival
Tea is hot—even when it’s iced. So, if you’re a tea lover or just tea curious, join us for the Third Annual Albany Tea Festival, Friday, June 2, 2017 from 5:30 to 9:00pm. Overit Media, 435 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, will once again host the event which will feature specialty vendors, tea talks, charity raffles and a Chinese tea ceremony that attendees can experience. The Hungry Traveler food truck will be there too, in case you’re hungry, but save some room for tea, sweets and Kombucha samplings. After browsing the vendors, learn about what’s trending in the world of tea, the medicinal properties of Ginseng and mushrooms, go on a tea journey and end your evening with a play about the history of tea! Tea Festival co-founder, Matt Zacharewicz, says, “With so many teas to choose from, there’s bound to be something for everyone and every taste. This festival brings together tea professionals and tea lovers for a truly unique evening.” Admission is free. Attendees can sign up beginning at 5:30 to attend a Chinese Tea Ceremony.
